Vivekananda Kendra College of Teacher Education (VKCTE), Nirjuli, organised an Orientation-cum-Induction Programme for the academic session 2026–27 on 12 August 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall. The programme aimed to welcome the new trainees and familiarise them with the college's curriculum, academic environment, institutional practices, values and vision, while highlighting the responsibilities of the teaching profession.
The programme was graced by Dr. Joram Begi, Chairperson and Trustee, VKVAPT; Smt. R. Raji, Principal, VKV Nirjuli; Sri Ramtanu Banerjee, Assistant Teacher, VKV Nirjuli; faculty members, university toppers and students of the 1st and 3rd Semesters.
The programme began with Shanti Path, followed by the Eikya Mantra and ceremonial lamp lighting. The dignitaries were welcomed and felicitated. A special felicitation was held for the Rajiv Gandhi University rank holders of the 2024–26 batch, including Sri Kangkeng Pigyor (1st Rank), Su. Bisanli Billai (2nd Rank), Su. Khapni Ronrang (5th Rank), Su. Kaman Tekseng (6th Rank), Su. Puja Gupta (8th Rank) and Su. Mari Ete (10th Rank). The available rank holders were honoured for their achievements.
The Principal, in her welcome address, emphasised that teacher education is not merely about earning a degree but about preparing for a profession of great social responsibility. A presentation by Sri Phurpa Tsering Bappu introduced the trainees to VKCTE's history, mission, facilities, academic activities and student welfare initiatives. The trainees were also introduced to the ideals and activities of Vivekananda Kendra by Sri Ramtanu Banerjee, with emphasis on Man-Making and Nation-Building.
The University Toppers shared their experiences and encouraged the new trainees to maintain discipline, regularity, dedication and a positive attitude. In his Words of Wisdom, Dr. Joram Begi highlighted the importance of academic competence, character, compassion, discipline, confidence and a spirit of service. He encouraged the trainees to become role models and responsible contributors to society.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sri Hem Prasad Sharma, Assistant Professor, VKCTE, followed by the Shanti Mantra and Kendra Prarthana. A group photograph and refreshments marked the conclusion of the event.
Overall, the programme was informative and inspiring, giving the trainees a clear understanding of VKCTE's academic environment, institutional values and the responsibilities of a teacher. It motivated them to begin their teacher education journey with discipline, dedication, confidence, good character and a spirit of service.
