A Teachers’ Day Celebration – Students’ Session was organised at Vivekananda Kendra College of Teacher Education (VKCTE), Nirjuli, on 5 September 2026 to honour teachers and acknowledge their contribution to the education and overall development of students.

The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with the Shanti Path, led by Shri Mattu Nyompu Ji, followed by the Welcome Address by Dr. M. Neethi Perumal, Principal, VKCTE.

The highlight of the programme was an inspiring address by Maananeeya Nivedita Raghunath Bhide Ji, All India Vice President, Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. She spoke on the dignity, responsibility and deeper purpose of the teaching profession. Emphasising the Indian concept of “Acharya”, she highlighted that a teacher inspires not only through knowledge but also through character and personal example. She urged teachers to regard teaching as a mission and sadhana, remain lifelong learners, adapt to emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence, and preserve the vital human connection between teacher and student.

She also stressed the importance of nurturing students’ connection with their roots, values and cultural traditions, highlighting three essential qualities of a good teacher: love for the profession, love for children, and love and respect for our values and traditions.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sanjeeb Barman, followed by the Shanti Mantra led by Shri Mattu Nyompu Ji and a photo session with the dignitaries. The celebration provided a meaningful opportunity for students and faculty to express gratitude towards teachers and reflect on their significant role in shaping responsible and value-based citizens.
